Valentine’s day will be here in a few short days. While we love our spouse, children, families, and friends daily, this day of romance really emphasizes the importance of love. Love is an essential trait we should show towards others. However, there are some elements we forget to love. While you are waiting in line to get chocolate or flowers, here are five others we need to remember to love.
Love #1: Love God:
This may be an easy one; yet, we sometimes forget to reciprocate the love God has for us. As the children’s song says, “Yes, Jesus loves me.” Even though we fall short and are not perfect, God gave us the chance of salvation through His grace, mercy, and love for us. We need to remember to love God for making the ultimate sacrifice for us and giving us hope.
Love #2: Love your country:
While sometimes we don’t agree with our leaders on specific issues, we must love our country. The United States of America was founded because of brave men and women who loved the values that were being declared. This love is what unites us as a country and makes us sustainably strong. Yes, there are times we question what we are doing as a nation. Nevertheless, we must continue moving forward and find this patriotic love.
Love #3: Love your job/career:
I don’t think anyone would rather go to work versus a vacation or staying home. However, work is an element we must all do in our life. Whether that is schoolwork, housework, or work at a company, we can’t run away from it. Therefore, we must learn to love our job, occupation, and career. If you do not find love or enjoyment in what you do, maybe you need to look for a different job. When you love what you do, you never will “work” a day in your life.
Love #4: Love your life:
There are a lot of things that are impacting others in numerous ways. While some of us are struggling with certain parts of our life, we must make sure we are loving life. From the great to the bad times, we need to smile and enjoy this rollercoaster ride. It is easy to love the fun, exciting, and joyous events. However, it is not as easy to love the difficult, disappointing, and depressing times. Always remember that the down times occur to help you grow and learn. These lows require determination, courage, fight, and love.
Love #5: Love when others succeed:
Depending on our personality and occupation, sometimes we have an extreme “dog-eat-dog” mentality. While climbing up the ladder to higher salaries, we are stomping others down. Even though the corporate world and other industries are this way, we must remember to love when others succeed on a personal level. Whether your friend is getting a promotion, buying a puppy, or proposing to the love of their life, we must love and support them. While our lives currently may not be moving as fast or seem as good as theirs is, love them because they are important to you. Jealousy, greed, and hatred towards others will negatively impact your life in various ways.
We hope you all have a blessed and lovely Valentine’s Day. Remember to love your faith, family, friends, country, job, and yourself daily. As 1 Corinthians 13:13 says “And now abide in faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
